Breast Reduction

Sometimes, a patient’s breasts can be so large that they present health problems such as back and shoulder pain, skin irritations and uncomfortable shoulder grooving from the bra strap. Dr. DeLuca sees many patients that experience the debilitating effects of disproportionately large breasts.

Women with very large breasts also experience psychological problems in addition to the physical ones. Buying clothes and bras may be difficult. Exercise is sometimes a near-impossibility as is walking long distances. The effects of being self-conscious about her appearance can be very damaging to a woman’s self-esteem.

Breast Reduction, or Reduction Mammaplasty, is a procedure performed to reduce the size of and reshape the breasts. Specializing in breast and body contouring, Dr. DeLuca is experienced with the numerous techniques used to perform a breast reduction. Following the procedure, many patients will experience improvement from many of the problems associated with large breasts. Additionally, patients will also note that their breasts are perkier, because a breast lift is another benefit of the breast reduction procedure.

RECOVERY TIME

Recovery from the breast reduction procedure generally takes a bit longer than with a breast lift and varies by patient. Dr. DeLuca recommends allowing 7-10 days before returning to work.
